Journal Submission Criteria Questions
Submitted manuscripts must meet the journal’s scientific and editorial submission criteria.
To facilitate the Peer Review process, please consider the following questions and include your answers with your manuscript submission. Please also ensure that you have followed the Notes for Contributors in preparing your manuscript.
- Please explain how your manuscript demonstrates evidence of clinical applicability?
- Please explain how clinical practice will be influenced?
- Please explain how subjects were selected and treatments allocated?
- Please explain why your submission is appropriate to a general international medical journal rather than a specialist publication?
- Ethics: All papers reporting animal and human studies must include whether written consent was obtained from the local Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board. Please ensure that you have provided the full name and institution of the review committee and an Ethics Committee reference number.
- Consent: All human studies where non-routine procedures are used must also include whether written/verbal consent was obtained from the patients or patients’ parent/carer. Please provide a suitable statement.
- Statistics: In research papers requiring complex statistics, the advice of an expert statistician should be sought from the design / implementation stage of the study. In comparative studies, power calculations are usually required. Please provide a suitable statement.
- References: Manuscripts must be supported by a comprehensive reference list. References must be formatted according to the Notes for Contributors on the website. Please confirm this has been done and cite the number of references.
- English: Manuscripts must have been checked by a native English speaker prior to submission. Please provide a suitable statement.
- Funding: The Journal of International Medical Research is a page charge publication; there are approximately 500 typed words to a printed page (excluding Tables and Figures). Please confirm you have publication funds available.
